1. Shenandoah National Park
Located a little under 30 miles from downtown Madison, Shenandoah National Park is one of the most beautiful natural reserves in the state of Virginia. Spanning an area of almost 200,000 acres, it covers part of the Blue Ridge Mountains and features stunning landscapes, rolling hills, hiking trails, waterfalls, streams, and ponds. More than 40 fish species can be found here, making the park an excellent fishing destination for anglers from the area.
Established in 1935 and managed by the National Park Service, Shenandoah National Park receives more than one and a half million visitors each year.
