Trim Levels (Exterior)
The Escape lineup starts with the Base model, featuring a Piano Black-painted grille, a bold rear spoiler, and dazzling chrome exhaust tips. The Active adds a chrome strip to the Piano Black grille and features chrome molding and a power liftgate that makes it easy to load and organize cargo. The ST-Line gets a black mesh grille, a single-wing rear spoiler, and a rear skid plate. Ford equips the ST-Line Select with heated mirrors and LED fog lights, while the ST-Line Elite announces its arrival with a coast-to-coast light bar. Last but not least is the Platinum, which gets a sleek, streamlined silhouette from its body-colored accents.
Engine (Power)
The Escape comes standard with a 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine with an output of 180 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque. If you go with the ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite, or Platinum, you'll enjoy a 2-liter EcoBoost engine capable of producing 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. The Escape's towing capacity starts at 1,500 pounds and maxes out at 3,500 pounds when you add the Class II Trailer Tow Package. Ford's fuel-saving technologies make the robust engine incredibly efficient, saving you money at the fuel pump.
Performance
No matter what Escape model you choose, you can take advantage of an eight-speed automatic transmission that optimizes engine response while enabling quick, smooth acceleration. Front-wheel drive also comes standard, helping you zip around crowded city streets, conquer tight corners, and merge onto busy highways. If you equip your Escape with the available all-wheel drive, you'll enjoy optimal traction on wet roads and other unstable surfaces. When conditions are stable, the system reverts to front-wheel-drive functionality, helping the Escape conserve fuel.
