3 of the Best Breakfast Places Near Madison, VA

Flat Lay of Delicious Breakfast with Berries | Madison, VA
Breakfast is probably the most important meal of the day. It provides the energy you need to get through the first part of the day. Without something to eat, you may feel tired or listless, and this makes your day feel like a real drag. In Madison, VA, we enjoy our breakfasts, and even more so if we have the time to savor them at a leisurely pace. These are the three best breakfast places we seek out.

My Dog Duke's Diner

This is a great breakfast place, as it is so light and airy. They also have outside seating, with planting boxes full of colorful flowers. Best of all, the outside area is dog-friendly, so you can have your companion join you for breakfast. Inside the restaurant has pictures of dogs on the walls and lovely slogans and thoughts about our furry companions. Omelets, eggs, and pancakes feature prominently on the menu as you'd expect them to. We like their sunrise skillet with onions, peppers, bacon, sausage, or vegetables, home fries, and then topped with fresh cheddar. For a lighter breakfast choice, the bagel with lox is heavenly. Delicately sliced salmon, with tomatoes, capers, red onion, and cream cheese on a freshly baked bagel. Duke's can be found at 1007 Commerce Street, Lynchburg.

Market at Main

Another excellent breakfast spot just over a mile away from us, Market opened in 2009 in two late Victorian-style buildings next to each other. The owner wanted to return the buildings to their original glory. Renovations turned the two buildings into a 1920s-style general store and eating place. The iron patina light fittings and interior tin ceiling panels add a pleasant ambiance. If you like egg dishes, we recommend the Chesapeake eggs, with split English muffins topped with crab cakes, poached eggs, and their delicious homemade hollandaise sauce on top. If you're feeling hungry, the chicken and waffles are made with their signature fluffy waffle topped with crispy chicken and served with two sides. Market is located at 904 Main Street, Lynchburg.

Texas Inn

This inn is the oldest diner in Lynchburg, as it was founded in 1935 and is still going strong today. The interior looks like an authentic Texas diner from the 1920s/1930s, with white-painted exposed brick walls, red leather counter seating, and a polished metal counter. They are small, as only about 15 people can fit inside. This coziness makes your breakfast time even more social. Their menu features traditional country-style breakfast items like biscuits and sausage gravy and country ham, cheese, and eggs. We like the Texas plate, with two eggs, choice of bacon, ham, or sausage, grits, oatmeal, and potatoes and toast or biscuits. We also recommend a glass of their fresh buttermilk served in an ice-cold glass. Texas Inn can be found at 110 Cornerstone Street, Lynchburg. After a great breakfast, come into our award-winning dealership at Madison Ford. We have the best range of new and pre-owned vehicles in the county.
